SDLA Holds Wine Tour

The San Diego Lawyers’ Association (SDLA) has recently held its first ever wine tour with all its interested members in tow. According to the SDLA, the tour is meant to be a leisurely excursion meant to take their members’ mind off their grueling work and schedules, and take time to breathe in the countryside.

SDLA Executive Director Robert Christensen says, this tour is part of their strengthened advocacy to encourage their members to prioritize self-care by taking time off from their busy schedules to do something that they enjoy. “Wine tours is something we know our members will appreciate. We asked them late last year what sort of leisure activity they would like to try as a group and wine tours had been a top answer. Another response we got was craft beer tours and that one we have carried out already early in the year. And as we have anticipated – of course with so much delight, they enjoyed the craft beer tour and this wine tour immensely,” Christensen relates.

The SDLA’s first ever wine tour was carried out within San Diego’s Wine Country. Aboard chartered buses, the members toured three San Diego wineries. Then they are given a short talk on how to best appreciate wine, which is immediately preceded by the wine tasting of about 16 different types of wines with of course a great charcuterie selection. The members are then treated to a light dinner overlooking one of the vineyards that they visited.

The San Diego Tourism Authority takes pride in the wine tours offered within the county. In its official website, The San Diego Tourism Authority described one of its popular wine tasting tours – the Winery Train Tour.

“Enjoy breathtaking scenery & tastes at coastal boutique wineries on the world-famous winery tour. Save gas, and travel ‘green’ with the comfort and convenience of rail on the guided Winery Train Tour of San Diego. Enjoy the breathtaking coastal scenery as we ride up and down the San Diego coast. Partake in guided historic strolls as we get on and off the train for a light Italian luncheon and tastings at local urban wineries and tasting rooms.”

The SDLA says apart from giving their members’ the opportunity to take time off their busy schedules and enjoy the countryside, the event also encouraged their members to consciously enjoy wining and dining. “This is a good habit to promote because red wine drinking is healthy when consumed within moderation. Aside from allowing one to de-stress, experts cite it as a good source of anti-oxidants,” Christensen adds.
